Jeff and Theresa Lange have been in Thailand since 2004. Srithone and Pen Kongkaw are national church planters. They started the Lanna Baptist Church in Lampang and Wiang Ping Baptist Church in Chiang Mai. Samonsri is a member of Lanna Baptist Church.

Teaching English Evangelisitcally

Mittam Foundation recognizes the strategic potential of an English school as a bridge into the local Thai community.

Pastor Srithone teaches English at two local schools. This has opened the door to reaching families near his Chiang Mai home/church.

Mittam is planning to open a branch office near the Lange's home in the Northern suburbs of Bangkok and start an English Center which is strategically located near 3 major Universities. Short-term missionaries would be able to teach English and engage in conversations about spiritual matters with their students outside of class. Please pray for the needed resources.

Newspaper Evangelism

Pastor Srithone writes a weekly Christian column one-half page in length. Mittam is looking for people to sponsor it in the Lampang newspaper (8,000 paper circulation) at a cost of $250 per time.

With additional sponsors, the foundation would like to place his column in the Chiang Mai newspaper with a circulation of 50,000 papers covering seventeen provinces for a cost of $750 per time. An ad is placed in the column for those who want to study the Bible by correspondence.

The columns are able to prepare the soil, as well as plant and water the gospel seed potentially to tens of thousands of people every week.

Scholarships

Thailand provides free education through 6th grade. However, many poor families are unable to pay for the mandatory school uniforms and school supplies. Therefore, they are unable to go to school. Mittam is seeking sponsors who are interested in providing scholarships for poor children. $50 will provide funds for one student for one semester or $100 for one year.

Due to a lack of effective Christian literature. Mittam is committed to producing it by financially supporting the translation and printing of effective literature.

Mittam desires to get this material into the hands of national pastors who are not able to afford Bible resources in the Christian bookstores.

About $500 is needed every month for printing costs alone. Mittam hopes to continue to develop and produce effective material for use by pastors and local churches as well as resoucres for training men for ministry.

Misionaries often face the struggles to effectively communicate the keys of the Gospel in another language and culture.

A new 300-page illustrated Bible storybook is available in Thai, Lao, Burmese, Karen and Hmong. The book does a good job at telling major Bible truths in story format from Genesis through the gospels. At a cost of $1.50 per book, Mittam Foundation wants to purchase several thousand copies for use in evangelism, discipleship and teaching small groups.

1. Radio
New Thai laws have made it possible to obtain a radio license for $15,000. To date there is no known Christian radio station in Thailand. Pastor Srithone has been producing a Christian radio program on a regional radio station in Northern Thailand. Mittam is in the process of determining how much it would take in start up costs, as well as what would be needed on a monthly basis to start a Christian radio station. Please pray as Mittam seeks the Lord's will in this matter.

2. TV
Mittam has the media rights to an eighty-minute Creation to Christ gospel video. Mittam wants to show this video on Thai national TV on Christmas Day or on Easter Day. Though the costs will no doubt be expensive, just the thoought of how many people would hear the Good News of Jesus Christ and the number of potential contacts as a result of the program is rather mind-boggling. This may be a one-time opportunity. Please pray!
